Landing the job that she loves locally

Having spent the last twenty years living in America and England, Pam Bishop decided to return to her Welsh roots in Denbighshire. Her reasons for returning were threefold – hiraeth or longing for Wales; a desire to see her two children grow up in a Welsh-speaking community and receive Welsh medium education; and also the ambition to pursue her career as a modern languages teacher.

Nia celebrates confidence-boosting language course

We would like to thank each teacher who returned our teachers’ questionnaire last term. We’re pleased to announce that the lucky individual who wins a Canolfan Bedwyr language package is Cleo Thomas-Jones. Cleo teaches Design and Technology at Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones, Amlwch and will receive a Cysgliad CD (which includes Cysgeir and Cysill) and the Canolfan Bedwyr language improvement handbook, the Llawlyfr Gloywi Iaith. Congratulations Cleo!


Sabbatical Course to be delivered in North East Wales

Investing in the National Sabbatical Scheme

Cardiff University’s contribution to a multi-million pound scheme to improve standards in Welsh medium-teaching and learning will be launched by Education Minister Leighton Andrews tonight (13 October). The Welsh language Sabbatical Scheme is a course designed for teachers, lecturers and classroom assistants who want to raise the standard of their Welsh and gain confidence in using the language.
